Cool Cans Across Texas

In the whirlwind world of Texas craft beer, it takes real skill to stand out. Customers don’t often think about ‘packaging design’, but they do notice a cool can. These are some of the best designs we could find across the state of Texas.

What makes a ‘cool can’? It boils down to two main criteria:

Uniqueness-

We’ve all seen a beer can before, what makes this one different? Color, art, cohesion with the brand, these are all things we look at when it comes to the coolest can.

Wow Factor-

Okay you caught us, this category is entirely subjective. “Wow Factor” is more of a ‘I know it when I see it’ thing…  In our defense, if a can doesn’t ‘wow’ you, can you really call it a cool can?

Hand holding a beer can against the sky. The can has a retro cartoon of a man in a plane. The colors are bright, primary colors

5x5 Brewing Co

5 x 5 Brewing Co is a veteran owned and operated brewery located deep, deep in the heart of Texas.

We are looking at their Moore Field Blonde. It has a retro, cartoon aesthetic with nice bright primary colors, with an overall wow factor of “wow look at that little guy go!”

Jester King

Out of all the breweries in weird Austin, this was the coolest we’ve found.

The colors are simple, the design is straight forward, and let’s be real, this is a very cool can. It may not be blow your eyes out spectacular, but the simple green illustration with a pop of pink hits our wow factor at a ‘wow, that is some good art!’

Buckstin Brewing Co.

It’s practically Arkansas with how far out east we found this can! Can you blame us though? Pugs are just the cutest!

All of Buckstin Brewing’s cans feature this little guy, but this design left us giggling. Eye catching purple tie dye and a fuzzy friend? It’s a match made in hippie heaven! The vibrant colors on this label bring this can to a wow factor of ‘Wow, this dog is rad!’’

Pondaseta

We are in love with Gladys, the mascot of Pondaseta milkshake IPA in the panhandle.

The color scheme and artwork is reminiscent of a 1950’s malt shop with a trendy edge. The little black and what pattern in the background, plus an adorable cow at the forefront of it all; this can leaves people saying ‘wow, how sweet is this beer?’

Celestial Beer Works

Our last and most surreal can on the list come from Celestial Beer Works based in Dallas.

What can we say about this can? From the blue and white trippy background, to the realistic bloodshot eye; this can is simple and draws you in for a closer look. This can design leaves you thinking ‘Wow, THAT is a cool can!’
