The Best Yoga Poses to Hold with Beer

We want Funky Picnic Brewery and Café to not only be known for our hand-crafted beer and food, but also for our Funky Events year-round. One of these entertaining events is beer yoga!

This is a 45-minute beginner instructional class taught by the talented Lance Perry. All yoga is conducted in our temperature-controlled taproom, so grab your yoga mat and stop by on the first Saturday of every month (Purchase Tickets)!

We asked Lance what were some of the BEST yoga poses to hold while holding a Funky Picnic beer! Read on to try each pose and beer pairing for yourself.

“Who Let the Dog Stout”

1) Balance your body onto your knees and hands on the floor so that you are in the shape of a table.

2) Gently lift your knees upwards, and stretch your arms forward. Lift your knees as high as you can to be in an inverted “V” position.

3) Push your butt back as far as you can and hold for 20 seconds to feel the stretch!

4) Release!

Beer Pairing: TWO PEANUT BUTTERS, ONE CUP – PB Stout

“Hold My Drink”

1) Squat and press your elbows against your inner knees with a beer in hand

2) Bring your palms together to hold the beer in between your palms

3) Hold for 30 seconds, taking deep breaths in and out

4) Release!

Beer Pairing: (IF YOU'VE GOT THE MAGIC), I'VE GOT THE MOVES – HAZY IPA
Amarillo, Barbe Rouge, and El Dorado hops combine to create a juicy, fruity, and floral hazy IPA. Low bitterness keeps the mouthfeel soft and smooth – 8.0% ABV, 13 IBU

“Losing My Beer Belly”

1) Sit on the floor with your legs in front of you

2) Lift your feet off the ground in an approximate 45 degree angle and stretch your arms out.

3) Balance your beer in between your feet or hands to feel the burn! *For increased difficulty, move the beer in your hands from one side to the other*

4) Release!

Beer Pairing: BELLY SWEATS – Pepper-Infused Hazy IPA
This hazy collaboration with Intrinsic Smokehouse & Brewery receives a hot pepper infusion from chile manzanos, cubanelle, and jalapeños, resulting in a refreshing beer with a lil' kick – 6.5% ABV, 13 IBU

“The Extended Swig”

1) Stand with your legs wider than shoulder-width apart.

2) Pivot your left foot and turn your right foot out at about 90 degrees. Position your right thigh outwards.

3) Press into your left heel and with your left hand, hold your beer to the ceiling while reaching your right hand to the floor.

4) Turn navel and chest upwards towards the beer you are about to take a sip from.

5) Release!
